Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our premium quilting supplies
What is the difference between cotton and polyester batting?
Cotton batting is a natural fiber that breathes well and offers a traditional 'crinkled' look after washing, while polyester batting maintains its loft and is more resistant to mold and mildew.
How do I choose the right loft for my project?
Low loft batting is ideal for a flat, traditional finish and easier machine quilting. High loft batting provides more volume and warmth, perfect for tied quilts or showing off decorative stitching.
Does your batting require pre-washing?
Most of our batting is designed to be used straight from the package. However, if you want to avoid the natural 3-5% shrinkage associated with cotton, we recommend a gentle soak and air dry.
What is the maximum quilting distance for your products?
This varies by material. Generally, our needle-punched cotton can be quilted up to 8-10 inches apart, while polyester blends may require closer stitching around 4-6 inches.
Do you offer bulk rolls for professional quilters?
Yes, we offer wholesale pricing and bulk bolts for professional longarm quilters and small businesses. Please contact our support team for a quote.
Is your batting suitable for microwave use?
Only our 100% organic cotton batting with no scrim or metallic fibers is safe for microwave projects like potato bags or bowl cozies.
